1 Dead After Fiery Crash In Richmond, Wis.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person is dead after a car crash Friday morning in Richmond, Wisconsin.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's office says the crash happened at about 11:42 a.m. on County Highway A, just south of West Richmond Way.

A 1998 Chevrolet Lumina drove off the roadway after failing to take a curve in the road. The car went into a ditch, hit a tree and then burst into flames.

Emergency crews were unable to pull the driver from the car due to the fire, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver's name is being withheld until investigators can properly identify them and contact their relatives.

This is the sixth road fatality this year in Wisconsin.

The St. Croix Sheriff's office is investigating.
