1 Dead, 1 In Custody After Shooting In North Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) – Police in Minneapolis say a suspect is in custody following a fatal shooting on the Fourth of July on the city's north side.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday on the 1400 block of Morgan Avenue North, where police say responding officers found a male victim in front of a home with critical injuries.

The victim was brought to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died an hour later. His identity has yet to be released.

Police say the shooting was not random and that a suspect and handgun were found at the scene.

The suspect, who was also not identified, was detained for questioning.

It was the third homicide in Minneapolis in five days.
