Police: Man Shot Multiple Times, Killed In Downtown Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police say a man has died after being shot multiple times in downtown Minneapolis Friday morning.

According to Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder, an off-duty officer working at 1010 Currie Avenue North around 6:30 a.m. when he heard what sounded like gunshots in a nearby parking ramp.

When he arrived, the officer found an adult male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was then taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

Elder says the suspect fled before the officer arrived.

Police have canvassed the area, interviewed several people and are reviewing videotape from the surrounding areas. Now, they are following up on available leads.

According to police, it does not appear to be a random incident at this point.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will later release the identity of the victim, as well as the nature and cause of his death.
