Mpls. School Locked Down Over Student's BB Gun

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police say someone was taken into custody at Anwatin Middle School Tuesday morning after a student brought a BB gun to school.

The incident was confirmed by Sgt. John Elder of the Minneapolis Police Department. Elder said the situation was under control and one person had been taken into custody.

A spokesperson with Minneapolis Public Schools said the school was placed on lockdown and police were called. The lockdown lasted less than a half-hour and the weapon was recovered.

District officials were working to notify families about the incident, the spokesperson said.

The school is located on the 200 block of Upton Avenue South.
