NEXT Weather Alert: Bitter cold continues Sunday
MINNEAPOLIS -- The cold air has taken over Minnesota, with highs expected to be in the single digits.
On Sunday morning, temperatures will drop below zero, and Sunday and Monday will stay below 5 degrees. That puts the state around 20-25 degrees below average.
Due to the dangerous cold, a NEXT Weather alert is issued through the morning.

This our first time, this January, that we've dropped below zero.
It appears we've only gone through the month of January 3 times without dropping below zero (1990, 2006, 2021).

It'll be cold for the rest of the week, and Tuesday morning will be the coldest.
One positive, however, is that we'll be seeing more sunshine.
