MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Zoo Miami welcomed its latest litter of lion cubs.

The cubs, now over 5 weeks old,  have been in seclusion with their mother since their birth on March 6th.

Zoo staff previously observed the cubs through closed circuit cameras so as not to disturb the mother with her cubs.

Just recently, zoo staff was able to temporarily separate the mother from her cubs to enable a closer examination.

The mother of the cubs is 4-year old "Kashifa" who was born at the Bronx Zoo. This is her second litter.

According to the zoo, there have been no problems with the litter and all four cubs, 3 males and one female, appear to be in excellent health.

They hope to introduce the Kashifa and her cubs to the public in the coming weeks.
