Zoo Miami reopens after bomb threat forced evacuation of facility
Zoo Miami reopened to staff and visitors on Tuesday afternoon after a bomb threat earlier in the day forced law enforcement to evacuate the facility.
"The security sweep at Zoo Miami has been completed and the park has been cleared to reopen by law enforcement," the zoo said in a post on X. "No credible threat was identified, and Zoo Miami is now open."
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of a bomb threat just before 9:30 a.m., and the area was evacuated when law enforcement arrived at the scene.
The sheriff's office said that while the threat had been deemed not credible, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office bomb squad and K-9 units swept the area to investigate.
"Thank you for your patience and cooperation," the zoo said in the post on X. "The safety of our guests, staff and animals remains our top priority."
