MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The City of Miami is hoping to educate the public about the dangers of recklessly running red lights with a compilation video of the year's worst offenders.

Joining with American Traffic Solutions, a Ft. Lauderdale-based company that runs the red-light camera systems throughout the U.S., the video highlights some of the worst accidents caught on camera at intersections around the country.

Nearly two lives were lost every day from 2009 to 2013 from red-light crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. About half of those killed in these collisions are most often pedestrians, bicyclists and occupants in other vehicles who were hit by the red-light runner.

The video hopes to remind drivers how violent these collisions can be and to always stop on red.
