MIAMI (CBSMiami) – World reaction to a Donald Trump presidency was swift.

The unexpected victory kept overseas viewers glued to television sets into the early morning hours.

In the United Kingdom, they're calling Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton a "Brexit-style shock."

"I sort of saw it as a warning, you know, that something like this could happen," said U.S. voter Christine Sweeney.

Late editions of UK newspapers flew off the presses with news of Trump's surge.

Every twist and turn in this election was watched around the world, and American voters in London said this was a finale they just couldn't miss.

"Sure it's like one night of sleep for us, but its history and like we're always gonna remember where we were," said California voter Jane Yap.

Many world leaders were quick to congratulate Trump.

But Iran's foreign minister took a harsher stance, urging the businessman to respect the nuclear deal between the two countries.

China's foreign ministry said it will cooperate with Trump's administration to ensure stable China-U.S. relations.

Despite Trump's sharp criticism of NATO during the campaign, the head of the military alliance says he's looking forward to working with the president-elect.

"I congratulate Donald Trump," said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

In Russia, President Trump souvenirs are already being sold.

And President Vladimir Putin said he is ready to restore good relations with the United States.

Even the Taliban is weighing in on the outcome of this election, calling on Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan as soon as he takes office.
