MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A north Miami-Dade woman was threatened by a man with hammer early Thursday morning during a home invasion robbery.

Mary Mister, 61, said she was asleep in her home at 14120 NW 2nd Avenue when she was awakened by a noise around 2:30 a.m.

"She told me she was asleep and when she woke up the guy stood over her with a hammer and said 'Don' t you move'. He got up and put her on the floor and said don't move," said Mary's husband George.

Mary Mister told police her attacker then got a sheet and placed it over her so she couldn't get a good look at him. He then ransacked the property and stole three televisions along with jewelry worth around $9,000.

"They got her purse and ID and credit cards and everything," said Mister.

Mister said while his wife was not seriously injured, she was traumatized by the experience.

"When I came home from work about 4 o'clock, I opened the door and saw stuff on the floor and I thought something happened to my wife and I said 'Mary, Mary'. She was in the room here crying," said Mister.

Mister said one of the things he and his wife don't know is how the man got into their house in the first place.

"That's what we are trying to figure out, is how he got inside the house. My wife said she heard a noise and thought it was me coming home from work."

Mister said the burglar fled about 15 minutes before he got home from work.

"I wanted to call police but I didn't have a phone. He took everything, phone, TVs, I'm just so upset right now," said Mister.

Mary Mister said the man who attacked her appeared to be in his 30s, he had a slim build and wore beige Nike shoes with orange laces.
