It happened at 1945 N.W. 49th Street around 5 a.m. The police were alerted to it by the county's Shots Spotter system which registered six gunshots.

Arriving officers found the visibly pregnant woman, in her early 20's, with three gunshot wounds in the head and neck area. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took her to the Ryder Trauma Center.

Detectives scoured the area looking for clues. They think the gunman fled westbound from N.W. 20th Avenue. They're not entirely sure if the victim was even the intended target.

The woman underwent surgery, listed in critical condition. Police have not been able to talk with her to get a description of the person who shot her.

If you know anything, contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
