MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A woman who didn't know she was expecting until her final weeks of pregnancy gave birth to the largest baby ever delivered at a Tampa hospital.

Maxxandra Ford knows a thing or two about giving birth. She has a 5-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son. But it wasn't until she was almost due that she found out she was having a third child.

"Nope, no nausea, no vomiting," Ford said. "I didn't gain any weight."

Ford found out she was pregnant in her third trimester.

The baby grew fast in the final weeks of her pregnancy. She knew her third child would be a big one, possibly twins because Ford is a twin herself.

On January 29th, the baby was ready to meet his new family.

"Before I knew it, he was already coming out. It was too late to turn back," Ford said.

Ford said she also knew that this delivery would be different than her other two.

"I felt his head come out. I knew he was bigger than 10 pounds and I was like 'oh my God' and they were like 'stop pushing, stop pushing!'"

But after 18 hours of labor, Ford, who admits she was "cussing up a storm" couldn't stop and Avery was delivered naturally.

Ford, knowing he was a big boy, kept asking how much. Then they told her he was 14 pounds, 1 ounce, she was shocked.

Avery's dad already has plans for his newborn son, "I got a linebacker now instead of a full back."

Avery is healthy and doing just fine. He is the largest baby delivered at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital in Tampa, and one of the largest ever born in Florida. Just one in ever 100,000 babies are born over 14 pounds.

As for the world record, a boy, born in 1955 in Italy, holds the title weighing 22 pounds, 8 ounces at birth.
