ST. PETERSBURG (CBSMiami/AP) – A Florida woman's day was off to a strange start when she found an alligator outside her home.

A member of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crew captured the alligator Wednesday morning after officers responded to reports of the alligator at the home, according to St. Petersburg Police.

A police spokesman says officers responded to the call at around 4 a.m. and waited for the FWC official to trap and remove the alligator. The spokesman says the alligator was around 300 pounds and about 30 years old. He says the animal will probably be placed at a sanctuary.
