Woman Dies After Being Pinned Under Car On I-95

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — A woman who was pinned under a car after she was struck while walking along I-95 has died.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said the woman appeared to be attempting to cross I-95 south of Broward Boulevard when she was hit. They were able to free her from under the car and she was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where she died.

The accident, which happened around 5:30 a.m., closed several lanes of traffic, snarling the morning commute for miles.

Police have not released the name of the woman who died or speculated why she may have been attempted to cross I-95 on foot.
