Winston Jokes He'd Follow Fisher To Texas

PASADENA, Cali. (CBSMiami/AP) - Even though Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher signed a contract extension with the school, rumors of him leaving to take over Texas persist.

Friday, his quarterback didn't help him very much in tamping down on those rumors, even in jest.

Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston was meeting with the media Friday and said the team hasn't concerned itself with the speculation about Fisher and Texas.

"Even if Coach Fisher goes to Texas, I'm going to ask him can I go with you? Yeah, I'm serious. He's my coach," Winston said jokingly.

Winston has spoken fondly of Texas in the past saying he might have gone to school there if the team had recruited him out of high school.

The redshirt freshman quarterback also told the press he was a fan of former Longhorns coach Vince Young and at one point even tried to call Texas head coach Mack Brown.
