Winderman: There's Chance NBA Writes $1 Million Check to Every Player Next Summer

The Association is about to be swimming in benjamins after the NBA's new television deal kicks in next summer.

So don't go feeling all bad for NBA owners doling out heavy luxury tax penalties, says the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman.

"There is a chance next year, after the NBA Finals in the 2016 offseason," Winderman said on the Joe Rose Show, "I don't know if you heard this. The league is still gonna owe the players so much money because of the money they're making hand over fist, there is a chance next summer, 2016...  they're gonna have to write a check to every player in the NBA -- you won't believe this, especially being a former player yourself -- for $1 million because they're gonna owe the players so much money on the 50/50 split that let's take a guy at the end of the Heat roster. Let's take a Udonis or Zoran, there's a chance they're gonna have to write them an extra check for a million just to balance the books on what they owe the players. That's how much money they're gonna make on the new national TV, broadcast, and digital rights deal."
