Winderman: No. 10 Pick Gives Riley 'Extra Chip in His Pocket'

The Miami Heat retained the No. 10 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft after Tuesday's lottery, something Ira Winderman considers critical for Pat Riley going into the offseason.

"Offseasons are all about how many chips can you put into play," Winderman said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz. "The Heat don't have a lot of future first-rounders. They still owe three if you could believe it or not -- the one from the Sixers that rolls over to next year's lottery, two to the Suns for Goran Dragic. They don't have a lot of salaries that are easily tradeable. What the Heat have right now is an extra chip.

"What Pat Riley needed was extra chips in his pocket."

As for next season's starting lineup, Ira thinks Whiteside-Bosh-Deng-Wade-Dragic is a safe bet.
