Winderman: Heat Could Trade Chalmers, Andersen to Cleveland

Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen are reportedly on the trading block. But where can the Miami Heat send them to acquire cap space needed to bolster their offer for Dwyane Wade without piling onto their luxury tax bill?

"You trade them to Cleveland for Brendan Haywood's non-guaranteed contract," the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman said on the Kup and Crowder Show. "Brendan Haywood makes $10 million. As soon as you acquire him you can cut him because his contract is not guaranteed."

If they acquire Haywood and Wade still leaves, they could also use the center as a trade chip.

"If you then trade Brendan Haywood you can get a $10 million trade exception and actually go out and get a $10 million player you can use within the calendar year so there's something to be said for that also," Winderman said. "There are solutions."

Expect the rumor mill to ramp up with the NBA Draft and Free Agency drawing closer.
