Widow Finds WW II-Era Grenade In Husband's Storage

PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) - Bomb squad paid a visit to a widow Wednesday after she found a grenade in her husband's storage.

The grenade was found by the widow at Colony Pointe in Pembroke Pines, Pembroke Pines Police Department tweeted out Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was cleaning out her husband's storage when she came upon the grenade.

The World War II-era grenade, PPPD said via Twitter, was "secured and safely removed."

Broward Sheriff's Office assisted in removing the grenade.

Some residents in the community were stunned when they learned of the unusual find.

"Nothing like this has happened before and I've been here eleven years," said Abby Acosta who lives in the building where it was discovered.

Henry and Elaine Ditman said they were relieved no one was hurt

"I'm here all the time and live just above the widow," said Elaine Ditman.
