White Powder Scare Prompts Pines Building Evacuation

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Public Services division of Pembroke Pines was evacuated Monday after a white powdery substance was found in the mailroom.

The substance, which was mailed to agency at 13975 Pembroke Road, was addressed to the city's police and fire rescue departments.

A hazardous materials team was called out to tend to one person who came in contact with the powder.

Police tested the powder and were able to determine that it did not pose a threat.
