WESTON (CBSMiami) -- Parades and events are being held all across South Florida to celebrate America's independence this July 4th.

One parade in Weston on Monday morning brought out families and the kids.

"You see some cars that you would never see going around, said one attendee.

Our very own CBS4 New Anchor Rick Folbaum was the Grand Marshall of the Weston hometown parade. He and his family call Weston home.

"This is one of my favorite holidays of the whole year because we get to celebrate our great country and I can't think of a better place or a better way to celebrate it than here in the Weston parade with all my favorite people, " said Folbaum who was accompanied by his family.

This year's theme was mainly about celebrating 20 years since the city's incorporation.

Weston's Mayor Daniel Stermer said this is simply a way to celebrate the community.

"From what used to be an outskirt of nowhere where there were cattle, and nothing a few decades ago, is now a city of 66,000 people, over $7 billion worth of value and we believe in creating one Broward that we live with," said Stermer.

Even with the heat, hundreds turned out to celebrate this Independence Day.
