FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Surveillance video of a New Year's Eve robbery of a Ft. Lauderdale hotel has been released by the police in hopes that someone recognizes the man on the tape and gives them a call.

The robbery happened just before 6:30 a.m. at The Westin Hotel located at 321 North Fort Lauderdale.

Security cameras were rolling as the man walked into the hotel's front desk and asked the clerk for change.

As the clerk bent down to get it, the man pulled a gun and demanded all the cash from the register. The clerk, in fear for his life, handed over an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency in a blue bank bag.

As the gunman walked out of the hotel, he pointed his firearm at a second employee and instructed them to walk away.

Police said the man had a large build, approximately 6'3" in height, full beard, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and grey sweatpants.

Anyone with information on the robbery should contact police at (954) 828-6355 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
