Water Line Bursts, Floods Pompano Beach Street

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A flood of trouble in one Pompano Beach neighborhood after a water main burst.
The water supply line ruptured at the intersection of NE 3rd Avenue and NE 23rd Street, just south of Copans Road and west of Dixie Highway, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
City workers rushed to control the street flooding. Chopper 4 over the scene spotted a large hole caused by the broken line.
While there was some street flooding the water level was low enough that it didn't enter any homes. Drivers were urged to avoid the area until repairs could be made and the water could dissipate.
About 100 homes were without water for several hours until the line could be fixed.
An area resident said this wasn't the first time this has happened.
"When I woke up this morning the whole street was all flooded out and I walked up and I said 'what happened, the same thing happened two to three weeks ago, the sink hole right here caved in so they must have not fixed it too good," said Paul Brown.
A city worker told CBS4 the pipe that burst was old and needed replacement.
