MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It was a very special night for patients at Holtz Children's Hospital – they held their very own prom!

The night of dancing and fun was one these young people don't get very often.

"It doesn't show on my face, but I'm extremely excited to be here," said Cedrick Cash. "And like I said, I didn't go to the one that we have at my school, so to be around other people, make new friends and see some old faces, because I've been here since I was like two, to see some old friends, and just lose it and have fun."

This is the third year they've had prom at the hospital.

All of it is organized by high school student Taylor Sennett, who volunteers at the hospital, and nursing coordinator Kim Juanico.

"They're in the hospital for most of their life, so this is an opportunity so they can feel like they're at a normal event that their high school would offer for them," Juanico said.

"I hope that this is something they remember forever," Sennett said.

These prom-goers got very adult, glam treatment – professional haircuts, styling, makeup and extravagant attire for their special night.

"This is very special because we have a night to just express ourselves inside a prom and everything," said prom-goer Carla Crawford .
