Volin: Brady, Patriots 'Were Defiant From The Start'

The New England Patriots were gashed yesterday after the NFL hit Tom Brady with a four-game suspension, fined the team $1 million and revoked two draft picks, but could they have walked away from deflategate in better shape had they approached the investigation differently?

The Boston Globe's Ben Volin thinks their refusal to cooperate with the NFL ultimately cost them, joining the Joe Rose Show on 560 WQAM to chat about the biggest story in sports.

"They were defiant from the start," Volin said, "and they didn't show any humility and they tried to play little mind games and run around the investigation. And Ted Wells and Roger Goodell threw the hammer at them."
