Veteran BSO Detective Charged With Misconduct, Grand Theft

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A veteran Broward Sheriff's Office detective is facing multiple charges Thursday, including official misconduct and grand theft.

Detective Luis Silberberg allegedly lied dozens of times about working shifts when he did not, sometimes not even leaving his home.

Investigators say he ultimately defrauded BSO out of more than $15,000 in compensation.

Silberberg has been with the agency since 2006. He has been suspended without pay.
