Last Call For Van Dyke Cafe On South Beach

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – A Lincoln Road icon, the Van Dyke Café, will close it's doors forever on Sunday--but not without a goodbye celebration.

It's been nearly two decades since Van Dyke Cafe first opened and took over 846 Lincoln Road in South Beach. Since 1994, the popular restaurant has served up countless memories. From birthdays to anniversaries and even first dates.

The restaurant hosted a special celebration Sunday that began at 5 p.m.  Patrons were invited to stop by for a complimentary toast.

According to the Van Dyke's website they're trying to find a new locale.

"But there may be a silver lining with this closing, we are working very hard with our landlord to find a space within the Van Dyke complex so that we can keep the Van Dyke Café spirit alive by opening a smaller version, hopefully sometime in the spring!"
