CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami/AP) — A well-known philanthropist in the Cleveland area has given a million dollar thank you to his alma mater - the University of Miami.

UM grad Scott Mueller is the CEO and co-founder of Cleveland-based Dealer Tire. On Tuesday it was announced that he donated a million dollars to the school to perpetually fund a scholarship for a football player.

Mueller attended Miami on an academic scholarship, graduating with honors in 1985. He calls his academic scholarship at Miami "a tremendous break in my life and I want to make sure that I pay back that generosity by helping another student."

His gift is the fifth of at least $1 million given to Hurricane athletics in the past year.
