UF Search Committee Names 3 Presidential Finalists

GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – The University of Florida has narrowed its list of presidential finalists to three out-of-state candidates.

On Monday, the search committee announced Cornell University Provost Kent Fuchs, New York University Provost David McLaughlin and Netherlands' University of Groningen President Sibrandes Poppema made the cut from a pool of 15 applicants.

UF announced all three candidates will be interviewed on Tuesday by members of the search committee.

The University of Florida's Board of Trustees is expected to name the president-elect on Wednesday, which will need to be approved by the state university system's Board of Governors.

The new president will succeed Bernie Machen and become school's 12th president.
