UCF Student Shocked With Taser After Pulling Alarm

ORLANDO (CBS) - Charges be may filed against a man who pulled a fire alarm at the University of Central Florida library over the weekend.

Police said they were called to the UCF Library at 3:15 p.m. Sunday on reports of a man in distress striking people, screaming and pulling the fire alarm.

Officers approached the man, identified as UCF student John Kane, 21, outside of the library, when he ran away and was shocked with a Taser, according to the report.

Officials released body camera video from three officers on scene, showing police handcuffing Kane.

Police said Kane told them he had taken LSD. He was taken to the hospital and issued a student affairs referral. Possible charges are pending.

The library, which was evacuated due to the fire alarm, reopened, and staff and police searched the building to ensure that it was safe.
