FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- Uber was back in business in Broward on Thursday morning.

Starting at 8 a.m. the drivers were able to be back on the streets providing their renowned ride-sharing service but not without some changes.

Uber drivers providing the service in Broward will undergo rigorous background checks. The company will also have a $1 million insurance policy and accountability and transparency feature will be built into the Uber app.

The company's return to the county came after commissioners approved looser regulations for the service on Tuesday.

Before that, Uber had stopped services in Broward after the city officials passed new rules for TNC  like Uber and Lyft.
