FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Ride sharing services Uber and Lyft are suspending their operation in Broward County.

Following fights, fines and new regulations with Broward County commissioners, Uber and Lyft decided it wasn't worth it to stick around.

At issue are laws that would require drivers to obtain a county chauffer registration. A car permit and county-run background check plus carry state required commercial insurance.

Although you will no longer be able to be picked up by Uber in Broward you can still be dropped off.

Both services will continue in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade Counties.
