MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A mother of six children is fighting for her life after she and her boyfriend were struck by a hit-and-run driver in Miami.

It happened just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of 64th Street and NW 2nd Avenue in Miami.

A witness said the couple was hit by a speeding car and the woman appeared to be dragged by the vehicle as it drove off.

The woman's family, who spoke exclusively to Peter D'Oench, identified her as 30-year-old Shameka Cone.

"She's a loving, caring, fun mother," said Cones' mother Tara Butts.

Butts said her daughter is in critical condition and she's praying that she survives.

"She's not doing well. She has internal bleeding, head injuries, she's not responding right now," said Butts.

"Whoever did it, you have no heart, you are cold, turn yourself in, nobody deserved to get hit and you keep on going. You drug my baby half a mile down the road. My baby is fighting for her life and that's not fair," she added. "I don't understand how someone could have done something like that and just leave that person. She means the world to me."

"That's my baby, man," said Cone's father Thomas Jones. "That's up there, losing my baby. Yeah, you know, I was supposed to go first, not my baby, I don't want to see that, I'm hurtin'."

Angel Gordon, who saw the couple get hit, said it's something she'll never forget.

"I saw Shameka Cone get run over by a periwinkle blue powdered Mercedes Benz, two-door. He hit both of them and he kept going," she said.

Investigators believe the vehicle is actually a light colored 2 door Infinity which should have extensive front end damage.

Ahmad Aldwan, who works in a store near the scene, called 911.

"The only thing I heard was a smashing car and everyone running. I saw people lying down on the street. I felt I had to call for help," he said.

Cone's loved ones want the driver responsible to do the right thing.

"It's just so devastating. I wouldn't do a dog like that, please come forward, it could happen to somebody in your family, please, I'm begging, please come forward," said Cone's aunt Katrina Johnson.

"Ya'll, if anyone know anything, tell somebody, open your mouth because it could easily be you standing here," said Butts.

Cone's family said her boyfriend has two broken legs and a broken wrist.

Anyone with information on the driver is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
