Two New Cases Of Zika Virus Confirmed In Miami-Dade

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Two new cases of the Zika virus have been confirmed in Miami-Dade County, State surgeon General and Secretary of Healthy Dr. John Armstrong announced on Tuesday.

This increases the number of Zika cases in Miami-Dade county to 19, the highest in the state. Broward county is next at six cases.

Every case of Zika in the state of Florida has been travel related.

Armstrong will issue a Zika virus update every weekday at 2 p.m. in an effort to keep Florida residents and visitors safe and aware of the status of the virus.

Of all the travel-related cases confirmed in Florida, there are only five cases still exhibiting symptoms.

According to the CDC, symptoms associated with the Zika virus last been seven and ten days.
