Two Men Accused Of Ballot Fraud In Homestead

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Two men have been accused of ballot tampering in Homestead.

James Brady, 31, and Samuel Jean, 42, were volunteers for Mark Bell who was running for Homestead mayor last year.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office said they illegally filled out absentee ballots for a Homestead family against their wishes.

Both men have been charged with four counts of unlawfully marking or designating a choice on a ballot and one count of possessing more than two ballots at a time.

Bell told CBS4 that only Brady was an official volunteer for his campaign and they immediately removed him as soon as the allegations surfaced.

Bell added that the men's actions were not reflective of his campaign.

Both Brady and Jean turned themselves into police on Thursday.

Brady resigned from his position as corresponding secretary with the Miami-Dade Republican Party earlier in the day, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.
