Suspects In Custody In Death Of Coral Springs Firefighter

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - At a memorial service Thursday for Coral Springs firefighter Christopher Randazzo, Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony announced that detectives had identified four suspects.

"Two are in custody and one has confessed," said Tony.

The announcement brought mourners to their feet at Randazzo's celebration of life which was held at the Marriott in Coral Springs.

"I don't know if it was relief or just making sense of something senseless," said friend Kate Randall.

Randazzo had been out with friends last Friday night at the Aruba Restaurant in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea where he had bartended for twenty years before becoming a firefighter seven months ago.

Afterwards, Randazzo went next door to the Village Grille.

Friends say he left alone walking north and was found dead early Saturday morning next to the Southern Seas Hotel.

"We are happy to know that BSO is doing their job. It's why he wanted to join the team and be part of the camaraderie of the community," said friend Keagan Rugg.

His distraught brother eulogized him saying he was the person everyone wanted to be around because he made everyone feel special.

"I want him to know I am scared to push through. He's not going anywhere. He will always be in my heart," sobbed Bobby Randazzo.
