MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Two people are under arrest after authorities busted what they said was a slaughterhouse in Miami.

Gregorio Santa Ana, 69, and Jose Armando Solis, 35, are under arrest in connection to the five month investigation into the alleged slaughterhouse.

Miami-Dade Police said the investigation revealed the animals were being starved, deprived from water and slaughtered in vicious ways.

Authorities recovered over 3,000 animals from the property. Some of the animals were in such poor conditions that they had to be euthanized by veterinarians at the scene.

Officers said the conditions were deplorable with dead animals all over the property.

The animals that were able to be rescued will be in the custody of the Animal Recovery Mission so they can get proper treatment.

As for those arrested, Santa Ana is facing charges of animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill,  animal cruelty and animals confined without food.  Solis is facing charges of cruelty to animals and  confinement of animals without food, water or air.
