Turnpike Shutdown After Deadly Accident

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Parts of the Florida Turnpike were shutdown Thursday afternoon after a deadly accident in northwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Fire crews were at the scene of the crash, near Okeechobee Road, as victims of the incident were being air rescued to a hospital forcing crews to closed down the southbound lanes of the turnpike.

Miami Dade Fire said three people were involved in the crash. Two were set to be airlifted while another was dead at the scene.

It is still unclear what caused the crash.
