Try Before You Buy At A "Snooze Bar"

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - People love shopping online for its convenience. The downside is you can't try things out before you buy.

An internet mattress company is trying to change the game by letting customers try before they buy at what is called a "Snooze Bar."

Casper, which sells its mattresses exclusively online, hosts 'snooze bars' from time to time in major cities. They're pop up showrooms where potential customers can check out the mattresses in person.

Like many, Amber Murray didn't know much about the bed she was interested in but wanted to test it out based on rave reviews from friends.

"I know it comes in a cool box and a friend of mine said 'oh I love my Casper, whenever I change the sheets I admire it'," said Murray.

Thers a sort of cult following that is crucial to Casper's business model.

"The majority of our customers are referred to us by other customers," said Jeff Chapin, one of Casper's founders.

"Whenever I think of a mattress or hear about someone wanting to buy a mattress, I'll say I know a mattress company," said Murray.

But boxes and snooze bars aren't the only thing that sets Casper apart. They offer a 100 day free trial and if you don't like the mattress they'll come pick it up for free.

So how many send them back?

"We don't get very many returns," said Chapin.

Those that are returned are donated to charity.
