Tropical Storm Ophelia Plodding Slowly To East

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tropical Storm Ophelia is looking like a hurricane on satellite images but its not quite there yet.

At 11 a.m., the center of the storm was about 775 miles southwest of the Azores.

It was moving to the east at 3 mph with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center.

Ophelia is forecast to continue plodding to the east today with a gradual turn to the northeast Thursday night.

Some strengthening is forecast and Ophelia is anticipated to become a hurricane at any time today or tomorrow.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
