Tropical Storm Lorenzo Forecast To Become A Hurricane By Tuesday Night

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Lorenzo is forecast to become a hurricane by Tuesday night.

At 10:40 p.m. Tropical Storm Lorenzo was about 270 miles of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands, it had maximum winds of 50 mph and was moving west at 15 mph.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles from the center.

A west to west-northwest motion is expected for the next few days.

Strengthening is forecast for the next few days, and Lorenzo is expected to become a hurricane by Tuesday night.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect at this time.
