Tropical Storm Jose Continues To Gradually Strengthen & Expected To Become Hurricane

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Jose continues to gradually strengthen and is expected to become hurricane by Wednesday night.

Jose is the 10th tropical storm of the 2017 Hurricane Season.

At 11 p.m. Tropical Storm Jose was about 1330 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

Jose is moving toward the west near 14 mph. A slightly faster west to west-northwest motion is expected during the next two days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center.

Additional strengthening is forecast, and Jose is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday night.

There are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Interests in the Leeward Islands should monitor the future progress of Jose.
