Tropical Storm Fiona Changes Course But Not Strength

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Fiona has changed course but there's been no change in strength.

Earlier on Wednesday, the system remained a tropical depression but strengthened throughout the day – becoming the sixth named storm of the season.

At 11 p.m., the center of the system was about 995 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph as it moved to the west-northwest at 16 mph.

The storm is expected to continue moving west-northwest with some decrease in forward speed in the next couple of days.

There are no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
