Tropical Storm Eduardo Forms In Eastern Atlantic

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Edouard formed in the far eastern Atlantic Thursday evening.

At 11:00 p.m., Tropical Storm Edouard is very far from South Florida or any land and is forecast to remain out to sea. It's about 1,020 miles West of Cape Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour.

It's moving west-northwest at 13 miles per hour. This general motion is expected to continue during the next two days.

Tropical Storm Edouard is expected to strengthen during the next 48 hours.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect .

Tropical Storm Edouard is the fifth named tropical storm of the current Atlantic hurricane season.

The last time that name was used was in 2008, when Tropical Storm Edouard came ashore in Texas. The storm was blamed for one death and minor coastal flooding.
