MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Opening statements got underway Wednesday in the trial of a woman accused of killing her husband's suspected killer.

Janepsy Carballo is facing a first-degree murder charge, accused of killing Ilam Nissim in May 2008.

Nissim was shot six times in the back after prosecutors said Carballo lured him to her North Miami home.

Prosecutors said there is no evidence Carballo's suspicion was correct. They told jurors they would show surveillance video that recorded two other men being involved in the murder of Carballo's husband, Orlando Mesa.

Mesa was shot in April 2008. Their infant son was grazed by a bullet, but survived.

Her defense attorney said she was in fear for her life and acted in self-defense.

The trial is expected to last two weeks. If found guilty, she faces life in prison.
