Tri-Rail Train Hits Pedestrian Near Fort Lauderdale Airport

DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) — A Tri-Rail train slammed into a South Florida pedestrian, killing him.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. Tuesday at the Dania Beach Station near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The train was heading north when it struck the pedestrian. The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority said the crash will cause "major delays" during Tuesday morning's rush hour.

The accident is being investigated by the Broward Sheriff's Office.
