Trains Collide, Derail North Of Ocala

ORLANDO (CBSMiami) - Two trains have collided and derailed in Marion County, causing a massive fuel leak.

The crash happened on the CSX lines in Citra, north Ocala.

According to a statement from CSX, a train transporting non-hazardous phosphate rock collided with a train loaded with coal around 4:15 a.m.

"Initial reports indicate that diesel fuel has been released from one or more of the locomotives. CSX environmental experts are on scene to assess and contain and product releases."

The head-on collision at a train crossing caused 20 cars to overturn. Two CSX crew members were treated for minor injuries.

Photos posted on Facebook by Marion County Fire Rescue show several heavily damaged and mangled train cars.

Marion County sheriff's deputies, Marion County Fire Rescue and CSX are investigating the crash.
