MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Palmetto Expressway has been shut down as authorities investigate a shooting Monday night.

The shooting happened in the westbound lane of the 826 near 37th Court.

At the scene, an older-model convertible Chrysler was spotted sporting a number of bullet holes and the driver-side window was blown out.

One individual was transported from the scene to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Florida Highway Patrol would not confirm details about the hospitalized individual. They would only say there was no fatal injury involved and they were not looking for suspects.

CBS4's news crew at the scene said several people were seen talking to the investigating agencies, which include Miami Gardens, Miami-Dade and the Florida Highway Patrol.

"We do not want to talk about nothing we don't know about," one person told CBS4's Hank Tester.

The departments are still working to determine who the lead of the investigation is.

As they continue to work the investigation, the Palmetto has been shut down at 37th Avenue.
