Tri-Rail Train Crashes Into Tractor Trailer

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Major delays are expected after a Tri-Rail train crashed into a tractor trailer in Pompano Beach on Friday afternoon.

According to police, it all happened near Atlantic Boulevard and Andrews Avenue.

According to a Tri-Rail spokesperson said a train heading Northbound hit the trailer just after 4:00 p.m. There were 200 people were on the train.

One person from the train was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The truck driver was not injured.

The Tri-Rail was shut down due to damage to the crossing arms but the train which was hit is being moved slowly. Other trains are able to move through the impacted area very slowly.  Delays are expected.

A bus bridge is being established between the Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, and Cypress Creek stations

Traffic is tied up on Atlantic Boulevard due to the crash. Broward Sheriff's Deputies advise motorists to avoid the area until the truck's load is cleaned up and the crash is cleared.

All westbound lanes are closed and only one eastbound lane is open.
