Tracking The Tropics: Tropical Depression 15 Moving Farther Away From US Coast

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tropical Depression 15 is passing to the southeast of the North Carolina coast as it heads out to sea.

At 5 a.m. Tuesday, the center of the system was about 100 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras. It was moving to the northeast at 13 mph with sustained winds of 35 mph.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

A turn toward the east-northeast is expected on Tuesday, followed by a turn toward the east by Thursday. On the forecast track, the center of the depression will continue to move away from the North Carolina coast.

Although the depression still has a small chance to become a tropical storm later on Tuesday, no significant changes in strength are expected during the next couple of days. The system could
degenerate into a remnant low by Wednesday night.
